Author's Note:Hi! I'm Kiki-iki-Riki - 'Kiki' for short - and I run the Tiki Tours on Whyville, including the GeoDig Safari and the Treasure Hunt. But I also look for other web sites that might be of interest to our citizens. The latest interesting site I've found is called http://www.factmonster.com and it's a great trivia and reference site for kids!

I asked our friends over at Fact Monster to write up something for the Times, and here's what they sent:

Quick: How high is the highest mountain? What is J.K. Rowling's middle name? What's the only coed professional basketball team? How many pints are in a liter?

It's possible that you already know all the answers. You may tell me, "duh, Mount Everest is 29,035 feet; Rowling doesn't actually have a middle name, but the 'K' stands for 'Kathleen,' which was her grandmother's name; the Harlem Globetrotters, which added a female player in 1985; and a bit over two pints???2.11, to be exact." In which case, give yourself a pat on the back, 'cause you probably already know about our featured website.

The rest of you ought to check out http://www.factmonster.com. Simply put, Fact Monster is a site with information on everything. Have a report to do on Antarctica? Fact Monster has a map, the history of expeditions to the continent, and more. Want to know how to use sign language to spell your name? Fact Monster is there. Fact Monster can tell you the history of sneakers, and give you the outcome of every World Series ever played.

Fact Monster is more than just a storehouse of knowledge. It has a homework center with math flashcards. It has dozens of games, including hangman and the Fact Monster Arcade. It has more than 250 quizzes, covering everything from Lemony Snicket and SpongeBob Squarepants to state nicknames and dinosaurs. It has timelines. It has monster jokes. It even has its own dictionary. Check it out!
