Hola, Whyvillians! Welcome to yet another episode of Behind The Set. Last issue, we looked further into someone very well-known -- my personal obsession, Johnny Depp. This episode should be different. After reviewing the previous articles, I realized that we've featured an actor everytime. I not only wanted to switch the career, but the gender too. Today I bring to you the winner of last year's American Idol, Carrie Underwood.

The Oklahoma native was born on March 10th, 1983. She is the youngest of her three sisters. Although music didn't run in her family, Carrie was singing in church by the age of three. While in school, she sang solo roles in her school plays. At her Seventh Grade Talent Show, everyone took notice that she had quite a big voice for such a little girl.

While she was learning about country legends in college, a friend encouraged her to try out for American Idol. At first, Carrie refused. After thinking twice, she realized that if she didn't try out now, she'd gradute and get a job without having this oppurtunity again. Her first song she performed was Martina McBride's "Phones Are Ringing All Over Town," for AI's producer, James Breen. Carrie felt she wouldn't make it, but was surprised when she was invited to arrive the next day.

On May 25th, 2005, host Ryan Seacrest announced the new American Idol, Carrie Underwood. She signed to 19 recordings with Artisa Records and released her new single, "Inside Your Heaven." This broke Billboard history, being the first country song to be No. 1 on the Hot 100 since Lonestar's single "Amazed" back in 2002.

She has been on tour with the American Idol finalists from her season, in which she released her newest single "Jesus Take The Wheel." More recently, she attended the CMT Music Awards and won two awards! She won "Female Video Of The Year" for the "Jesus Take The Wheel" hit. She also won "Breakthrough Video of The Year" for the same song! She was nominated for three categories, winning two out of the three.

Did You Know: The animal rights organization PETA voted Underwood the "World's Hottest Vegetarian" in 2005, after her Idol win!

This is blondyy16 -- going to update my ipod with my new Carrie Underwood songs! :)
