Hi Whyville! This is surfsup46. Recently for school, I had to do a report about an animal. And after a week of hard-core decision making, I chose to write about dolphins. I learned so much about these animals, and I found them so very fascinating, so I decided to write about them for the Times. I'm sure you've heard of them, and there's a chance you've seen one, but do you know all about them? Well, in case you don't, let's take a closer look.

Dolphins are very beautiful in appearance. Many people confuse them with fish, but they are actually porpoises. As a small whale, the average size is 3 meters and about 500 kilos. They are designed for swimming, and they can swim very fast. I know I'd never want to have to compete in a swimming race with one of these! Their bodies are smooth and they have shiny skins that feel like rubber. Tell me, how could anyone not just fall in love with this beautiful animal?

Dolphins also live in very interesting places that I wish I could see someday, but unfortunately that's impossible. They travel north during the spring and south in the fall. The atlantic species move ahead of growing ice to Novia Scotia and New England. Canadian dolphins do not migrate as far south as the tropics. Generally, they follow the fish. Maybe someday it will be possible for us to see what its like to live there, that'd be sooo cool :)

Dolphins also eat a variety of different things. Dolphins eat fish. They enjoy eating salmon, squid and tons of other different types of fish. Fishermen mostly don't like dolphins. They complain that they destroy fish stock. Hey, the dolphins have to eat too! Dolphins eat many things that a lot of people probably think are gross and disgusting. Or at least I do ;)

This is just some information about this truly amazing creature. Well, that's all I have for now. Please post compliments, questions, heck, even criticism in the BBS. I will answer and accept anything you have to say!
