Qt4ever90 here to teach you about a very important word. If you are young, you may want to ask your parents before reading this article.

I want to speak to you about the word 'retard.' What is the real definition, you may ask?

According to wikipedia.com, the definition of 'retard' is:

Retard (noun)- Mental retardation. A pattern of persistently slow learning of basic motor and language skills. (colloquial, usually considered offensive)
Retard (verb) - To make slower.

Now, to get down to the point. The word retard isn't used to describe people with a disability; at least not anymore. The word retard was formly used to describe individuals with disabilities, such as autism, down syndrome, plus many more.

But, stop to think about how you might use the word retard now-a-days. You might say something like, "Oh my god, that is so retarted." Now, when someone says something like that, they're trying to say, "Oh my god, that is so stupid."

Someone might also say, "Oh my god, he/she is so retarted," implying that they are stupid, or slow.

Now, may I ask why the word retard is used more often than the word stupid. It is because it's more mean and degrading.

I'm not saying that calling someone stupid is right, it isn't, But it's certainly better than calling someone a retard.

The next time you go to call someone a retard, think about what it really means, and think about how mean it really is.

qt4ever90, over and out, trying to make the world a nicer place one article at a time!
