lying on a cold, hard bed
a TV flickers in the background
the walls are blue and tired-looking
and memories are scattered on the floor
and you're thinking wistfully,
at times I almost feel

and there's that song
that means an entire city
there's the scent of pizza and sweat
there's the evil giggle of a wild-haired girl
and you can almost feel a touch to the lips,
the ghost of a kiss long gone

a bonfire crackles nearby
and someone's fingers are laced inside your own
you turn off the song before it gets too far
because it means an entire city
and you're trying to forget

so memories are left scattered on the floor
and the walls still look blue and tired
and the TV is still on.
rolling over in a cold, hard bed

you're thinking wistfully
in time this all will fade
