Hi, my name is asocie and I interviewed Holiday50, who is the Newbie Helper of the month. This is what she had to say.

asocie: What made you want to become a Whyville Newbie Helper?
Holiday50: When I was a Newbie, not that many people helped me. I had to find out everything myself. It was a horrible experience because I was on a new website and I didn't know what to do. I don't want Whyvillians to feel this way, so I decided to become a Y-mail Helper. Also, I love helping people.
asocie: How long have you been on Whyville?
Holiday50: I've been on Whyville since 2003 on my first account, phoenix20. So for a total of three years.
asocie: How long have you been a Newbie Helper?
Holiday50: I think I've been a Newbie Helper for about five months now.
asocie: How did you learn about Whyville?
Holiday50: I learned about Whyville from my friends at school. First someone found out about it, and soon everyone was making a new account on Whyville.
asocie: What advice would you give to someone who wants to become a Newbie Helper.
Holiday50: The advice I would give is to be patient, friendly, energetic and resourceful. You have to be really patient with Whyvillians because sometimes they don't understand your answer and you have to explain it to them carefully until they understand. I would tell Newbie Helpers to be friendly because personally, I would rather accept help from a nice Y-mail Helper rather than a mean one. Everyday, Newbie Helpers have to answer the same question over and over. They need to have energy to answer the same questions over and over. Lastly, I would tell a new Newbie Helper to be resourceful. Sometimes Helpers don't know the answers to questions so they have to try their best to answer Whyvillains. For example, someone might ask "When will Lifetime Whypasses be back?" If you don't know the answer, a good reply would be "Lifetime Whypasses were taken away a long time ago. Whyville hasn't brought it back since then. For more insight, try asking a City Worker such as Scyllacat".
