Latley, many people have been talking about some very dangerous matters, such as terrorism, global warming, the population problem, and the war in Iraq. Everyone has different opinions about these matters. You see opposite points of view every night on the news. For younger children and teens, it can be very confusing. You hear the adults talking politics at the table, or your father watching the president on the news, and you think "What does it matter?"

It matters because we all live in this world, and these issues could change the future for certain parts of the world, or the world itself. If we don't know about these things, even as kids, then what would we do? If we were adults right now, most of us would be useless in the world of politics and world issues, because we don't know what's going on. There are some articles in the Times like "Chnage The World" that can help you understand some of these "problems." Anyway, I encourage you to read up on it. If you know more about what's happening in our world, you can join more conversation, tell your friends, and even do something about it.

Here I have two opinions from some people you might know about the world today.

The first opinion is on the population problem, how we treat others, and the world we live in.

"Hate humanity? Yep, sure do. There is such a lack of responsibility for ones' actions in the world, a selfishness, and a great destruction in how people live their lives. It's all instant gratification. Who cares how my instant gratification affects others on the global level, some say. The way we treat people is truly disgusting and we've created an environment in which science and technology allows for a very septic society to survive. We breed and breed. All the wrong people breed and create destructive children like them. The right people don't want to have children because they don't want to have to place them in this world" -Davey Havok

Powerful, huh? Does that last quote change your thinking at all? Here is another quote, with a different opinion on the direction the world is going.

"I think that so many people are worried about what our world is coming to. We've made long strides since the 1800s, or the 1900s for that matter. Our world might have problems, but people need to realize our world is also very strong. Over long years, we have knitted ourselves together to form a bond that not even global warming, or wars can break down. The country, the world today is going through something hard, but at least we can be assured that even if the problems get worse, our world will take heavier action. Someday it will be stopped. We have to wait until that day, and keep helping make a difference" -Johnny Depp

What do you think now? There are very different opinions, but both have some logic to them. What do you agree with?

Remember to take my suggestion, and read up on some of the issues our world has today. Then you can decide. Post in the BBS your thoughts, also.

Forever,
