Do you believe in superstition? Are you careful when you are around a mirror fearing seven years of horrible bad luck? Chances are most people have believed in some sort of superstition. I'm going to talk about another superstition, which is Friday the 13th.

This year April the 13th is Friday the 13th, it is also my birthday. Not only do we have a Friday the 13th in April this year but we also have one on July the 13th. I have done some research on Friday the 13th to try to find out why people say it is so unlucky.

Many Christians have long believed that Friday was unlucky because it was the day of the week that Jesus was crucified. In addition, the number 13 is believe to bring bad luck since there were 13 people at the last supper. I also found that according to Christian legend, Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit on a Friday.

Every year when Friday the 13th comes around some people are so scared that they are often unable to get out of bed. I read on www.wikipendia.org that, "The Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute estimes more than 17 million people are affected by a fear of Friday the 13th." That's a lot of superstitious people!

I know that I'm not going to let Friday the 13th get in my way and I hope you don't let it get in the way of yours either. This is the end of my article and I hope you learned a bit more about Friday the 13th!

Post your opinions on Friday the 13th in the BBS!
