Hi. My Whyville name is LindseyLu. My real name is Lindsey. There's the first connection. "What connection?" you may ask. The connection between Whyville and LIFE. This is going to be a series of articles I will write, discussing people's lives outside of Whyville, problems outside of Whyville, and how these things are reflected into typical Whyville life.

Think about it. There are so many things that we do to make Whyville just like real life. We dress ourselves in trendy clothing. We want boyfriends and girlfriends. We want to be popular, to win the races, to be rich, to achieve. But, there are some of the problems from the outside world that enter. Discrimination, stealing, cruelty, adult predators, they can all taint the town we love and hold dear.

Also, people may come to Whyville to escape lives that aren't so great. Some kids may want to be adopted because their real parents are abusive. People who are loners at school may come here to be cool and have friends. Maybe the person that is standing beside you is suicidal, terminally ill, or in great pain, and your nice comment brings a smile and a warm smile to their face? That's the connection.
