I am pleased to announce that the DVD of Disney's film "Bridge to Terabithia" will be released on June 19.

"Bridge to Terabithia" is an adaptation of one of my all time favorite books ever. The movie stars Josh Hutcherson ("Firehouse Dog", "RV", "Zathura") as Jess Aarons and Annasophia Robb ("Samantha: An American Girl Holiday", "Because of Winn-Dixie", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory") as Leslie Burke.

Jess Aarons is an outsider at school and even in his own family. Jess has trained all summer to become the fastest kid in his middle school class but his goal is unexpectedly thwarted by the new girl in school, Leslie Burke, who competes in the boys' race and wins.

Despite their awkward introduction, the two outsiders quickly become best friends. Leslie loves to tell stories of fantasy and magic. Jess loves to draw, but until he met Leslie it was something he kept to himself. Leslie opens a new world of imagination for Jess. Together they create the secret kingdom of Terabithia, a magical place only accessible by swinging on an old rope over a stream in the woods near their homes. There, the friends rule the kingdom, fight the Dark Master and his creatures and plot against the school bullies. Thanks to his friendship with Leslie, Jess is changed for good.

Now, the magic of Terabithia can be found in Whyville. To be a part of it all you have to do is chat "Terabithia" when asked what the secret word is. Then you will be able to go to the land of Terabithia too. There will be new forums to discuss the movie and, in addition, we'll be having a contest as well. Submit a story about a place that will never leave you and a friendship that has changed you forever, and Whyvillians will vote on their favorites. The two writers with the most votes will win a "Bridge to Terabithia" DVD.
