Hello, girlmusic here today to talk about the Creative Writing section in the Whyville Times. Whenever I look at the Creative Writing section all I see is poetry which is great and all, but can we add something more?

I was thinking that maybe people could write stories and send them in by chapters, one or two chapters at a time. This would help us because we would get feedback about our stories. We could still have poetry there too, but I think that having stories would be helpful.

We would have different genres, like fiction, mystery, nonfiction, science fiction, and horror. People could even write autobiographies and biographies if they wanted to.

Since I liked this idea so much, I decided to interview a couple of people and see what they thought. I first found Nolegirl6 at beach waterfall, so I decided to try her on the idea.

girlmusic: Do you think adding stories to the Creative Writing section in the Times would be helpful? Why or why not?
Nolegirl6: I think it would be a very good idea because there are many people in Whyville who are good at writing stories, and no one knows it. I actually know that one of my best friends who is on Whyville has really sent in a short story and it hasn't been accepted. She is a really good writer.
girlmusic: Suppose Whyville added my idea, would you consider writing a story?
Nolegirl6: Of course, it would be fun. And you never know, maybe someone who thinks they aren't a good writer, really is!
girlmusic: What kind of genre would you write?
Nolegirl6: I would probably write comedy. And something with talking animals.
girlmusic: Would you read any stories that other Whyvillians wrote?
Nolegirl6: Yes, I love reading the Times, and I love reading books.
girlmusic: Any additional comments?
Nolegirl6: If we might add a Stories section, why not a Comic section? You could either draw the pictures and scan them in, or do one in paint and attach the file to the email maybe?

I then decided to interview al4dal on the matter.

girlmusic: Do you think adding stories to the Creative Writing section in the Times would be helpful? Why or why not?
al4dal: Yes I do think that adding stories to the Creative Writing section would be helpful because Whyvillians could share some of their favorites that they made up or some that come from real life experiences.
girlmusic: Suppose Whyville added my idea, would you consider writing a story?
al4dal: I personally wouldn't write a story just because I'm not the best writer out there.
girlmusic: What kind of genre would you write?
al4dal: If I did write a story the genre would probably be fantasy.
girlmusic: Would you read any stories that other Whyvillians wrote?
al4dal: I would love to read stories from other Whyvillians. I think it would be fun.
girlmusic: Any additional comments?
al4dal: My comment is that this is one of the best ideas that I've heard about the Whyville Times in a long time. Keep up the good work!

I then wanted to get a boy's opinion so I decided to interview stapler19.

girlmusic: Do you think adding stories to the Creative Writing section in the Times would be helpful? Why or why not?
stapler19: Yes I think that adding stories would be a great addition to the Creative Writing section because then Whyvillians could express their feelings more and maybe even pass on stories that have been part of their family history for many years.
girlmusic: Suppose Whyville added my idea, would you consider writing a story?
stapler19: Yes I would consider writing one I think it would be fun to see what other Whyvillians thought of my work.
girlmusic: What kind of genre would you write?
stapler19: I would a realistic fiction story or even nonfiction that means a lot to me.
girlmusic: Would you read any stories that other Whyvillians wrote?
stapler19: Of course I would read about what other Whyvillians wrote because then it would mean that they shared a little bit of their imagination and creativity with all of Whyville.
girlmusic: Any additional comments? stapler19: I think this is a wonderful idea and addition to the Whyville Times.

Most people that I interviewed liked the idea of adding stories and Nolegirl6 even came up with a good idea of adding comics. I hadn't even thought of that until she mentioned it and I also think that would be a good idea to because real newspapers have comics in them.

Post your messages in the BBS. This is girlmusic, signing off.
