Editor's Note: This article is about a mature and controversial subject matter: abortion. I highly encourage you to speak to your parents about this subject prior to reading this article. This article presents one opinion on the matter. Please be respectful of each other when discussing in the BBS.

Pro Life VS. Pro Choice

Now, you might be asking "What are these two things?!", well that's what I'm here to explain.

Pro life is a term that defines the people that are against abortion.

Pro choice is the term that defines people that believe abortion should be an option.

Now, myself, I am pro life, I think that if you are mature enough to make the choice to be sexually active, then you should have to either keep the baby, or give it up for adoption.

The only way I could ever be pro choice, is in the case of rape, because it's not consensual and you didn't choose for it to happen.

What are the pro's about being Pro Life?

The main pro about being pro life is that the baby gets to live. The baby didn't ask to be created, and it did nothing wrong, so with Pro Life, it gets a chance to live.

Abortions can really do a number on a girl's body, especially a young girl's body, if there were no abortions allowed, then that wouldn't be a problem.

Abortions are sort-of a "get out of jail free card", when you think about it, you can get pregnant, and in some places, have an abortion for free, I'm not sure in how many places, but where I live you can, I think, if you go to a certain clinic.

What are the con's of being Pro Life?

There aren't really that many con's of Pro Life, but the main one would probably be the ridicule the girl would have to go through in school, and in life, but again, it would be her own fault, and she would just have to deal with it.

Girls that wish to keep their babies are usually financially unstable, and can't provide well for their babies, unless they have financial support from their parents, or even welfare.

Girls that get pregnant usually drop out of school, which will most likely lead to poverty, because if you drop out of school, you can't really get much of a job.

What are the pro's of being Pro Choice?

The main pro of being Pro Choice is that the baby won't have to grow up in an unsafe, financially unstable environment.

Sometime's a pregnant woman doesn't want the baby, and doesn't want to give it up for adoption, so abortion is actually probably better for the baby than living with a mother that doesn't want it.

If abortions weren't available to women, then the unthinkable could possibly happen, actually, it has happened, girls that don't have the option of abortion have taken it into their own hands, and tried to abort the baby themselves, how, I'm not sure, but it usually ends up in death, for the baby, and the mother.

What are the con's of being Pro Choice?

The con's of Pro Choice are that if girls can have the option of abortion readily available to them, then they might not be as cautious as they should be, they might stop having safe sex, and that could lead to a lot more unwanted pregnancies, and a lot more STI's/diseases.

The biggest con of being Pro Choice is that an innocent human being is being killed, it might not be a "human being" at the time, but in time it would have been, and it did nothing to deserve to be killed and not given a chance to live and grow up to be someone.

I guess that's it, I hope this article has better informed people on the topic, and I hope if there are any girls in this situation that you fully think through your options, and hopefully make the best decision.
