august starts unwinding threads
kill the clock, kill the lights
scrambled static fills my head
summer marks the final nights

winter comes for all it wants
but i don't wanna let go yet
let our shadows fight as one
'cause i don't wanna let go yet

spots on spots roam the air
like happy children on the blacktop
a year from now i may have to bear
more than i've prepared for

fissures form where white meets black
problems rise from the broken floor
gray shades mold where white meets black
this is more than i'm prepared for

a dark horizon is all i see
when i try to look ahead
and i want you to be with me
when i arrive at year's end

i opened wide my heart to yours
kill or heal it, please and thank you
here is where the break occurs
when time decides to take you

fissures form where white meets black
problems rise from the broken floor
gray shades mold where white meets black
this is more than i'm prepared for

spots on spots roam the air
like happy children on the blacktop
a year from now i may have to bear
more than i've prepared for

fissures form where white meets black
problems rise from the broken floor
when gray shades mold where white meets black
it'll be more than i'm prepared for
