The Connection: Your Connections

Hello fellow citizens of our fair town of Whyville! I have recieved numerous letters from people eager to comment and share their experiences and thoughts with me, so I thought it was time to have my first readers-only issue! People shared their stories, their worries, their ideas, so I sifted through them, finding the creme de la creme. And here they are!

The first letter I received was from Nicit:

Hello my name is Nicit, and here are some things I've noticed that are similar in real life with our busy little town we call Whyville.... For one thing, when you just come in to a big new place, you have no friends and sometimes they're not that easy to find. Sure, you'll see someone at the playground and you say hi and they'll say hey baq, but those aren't friends. Friends on Whyville are people who care about you and love when you're on so you can have your conversations. I like to call em my online buddies!

Another thing I've noticed that is in real life but a thing we certainly don't need in our loving community is racism!! Why do we fight? I mean we are all kids here, trying to relax and have a great time and just be ourselves, but when people ruin it by dissing others about how they look, well, that's not right. We should treat each other like equals, seeing as how no one is better than another.

I hope my opinions helped, thank you! Peace out!

You made some awesome points, Nicit! Your online buddies are lucky to have such a smart person as their friend! You are very much correct on your point on racism. Not only do we need to treat each other like equals in Whyville, but we need to extend those values outside of our town!

Our next letter comes from Rosallie:

I just moved 2 a new school and every1 ignores me. I came to y-ville 2 make friends, and my old best friends r on here and recommended it 2 me. I really am lonely and miss them a lot.

I would like to share a sweet letter from Pennylan1:

I loved your article. It almost made me cry. I don't have a lot of friends on Whyville, because my face is ugly right now. I was at the pool party, and a pretty Whyvillian just walked up to me and said "Hey geek." People always ask me if I'm a boy or girl. Will u be my friend even if I'm ugly?

Love,

Pennylan1 aka Penny Lane.

On account of these two letters, I would like to personally ask everyone to make an effort to try and make someone feel welcome in our town who looks out of place at least once every time you log on. Do you know how great that would make someone feel if they were welcomed into our town by a few people? And Penny, I would love to be your friend!

Wow! That was great! I would love to hear more from you all! Please keep in touch!

Yours in love, friendship, pain, and sorrow,

LindseyLu (Linds)
