Everybody loves clams, it's pretty much a known fact. Getting rich quick, buying low and selling high, and salaries are pretty much the name of the game here in Whyville. But one Whyvillian is changing the definition of "easy money" (easy clams, I should say). Many people already know Kingclams as a giving member of the Whyville community.

Hey everyone,

My name is Amph. I'm pretty sure most of you don't know me, but if you do, it is probably because I make the occasional part at Akbar's. Over the last couple weeks on Whyville (I, myself being a fairly new citizen) have found that hospitality is something to be valued in the online world. You will come across many scammers and hackers throughout your day on Whyville, there is no doubt. However, sometimes, but rarely, there is a person who shows a certain hospitality. It is valued in any form, whether it be showing kindness, or just doing someone a favor. A member named Kingclams shows his hospitality . . . through clams.

Yes, it's true. While Kingclams has only been a Whyville citizen for a short period of time, he has made a name for himself among Whyville citizens. No one knows how, but Kingclams has built up an empire upon clams. One would think that he would spend them on face parts, scions, or rares, but none of the latter is correct. What Kingclams really does with all his clams, is give them away.

I myself have not asked Kingclams for any amount, because I feel that I am already well-off, and that other civilians deserve to receive the clams rather than I. I have talked to some of the people who have received clams. They all say they were overjoyed, because they could finally buy that Scion or that rare face part. I asked Kingclams why he does what he does. Here's what he had to say:

amph: You say you give out clams by clam grams. This must take a while considering clam grams only send by 50 at a time.
kingclams: Yes, it does. But if I did my work in a trading post then everyone would start crowding around and asking right there directly. I would like to be organized about this giveaway process, so y-mails are better.
amph: You have a lot of clams, don't you?
kingclams: Yep. If I did not have a lot I would not be doing this giveaway. I wanted to make sure everyone who wanted clams would get them.
amph: Do you think it is difficult to obtain clams in Whyville?
kingclams: Like a lot of things in life, it takes time. What I like about Whyville, is that you actually have to work to achieve a salary. You have to put in actual effort in order to obtain something, like in the real world. So yes, it is difficult, but it's difficult for a reason: to show people that even if it's an online game, you still have to work at something to achieve it.
amph: Do you get a lot of y-mails?
kingclams: I usually get about 90 y-mails per day asking me for clams. I am sure to respond as quickly as I can to all of them, but time is a constraint, there are other things besides Whyville I have to do.
amph: I have heard you use a Waiting List System in order to keep this "clam giveaway" organized. Is this true?
kingclams: Yep. I separate each clam order into three waiting lists based upon how many clams a person wanted. This helps me organize every order and get clams sent much faster.
amph: Why are you hosting this giveaway?
kingclams: Even though you should work to obtain clams, this will serve as an incentive. If I give out clams and a person uses them all up, it teaches them to conserve when they soon realize they have no clams left.
amph: You do not receive a salary, so how do you have so many clams?
kingclams: I have a main account that has a fairly high salary. That account was getting boring, and I wanted to host a giveaway, so I decided to make a new account and give all my clams to a new account: Kingclams.

So there you have it. If you did not know King, now you will have a little idea about what he does and why. If you need any clams, just y-mail Kingclams! He will help you as fast as he can.
