You've probably been to McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's or any other fast food place in your life. But have you ever considered the side effects of your fries, soda and double cheeseburgers? Morgan Spurlock took on a challenge when he decided to go on a 30-day diet of pure McDonald's. But what were the results?

The rules were pretty simple. For 30 days, Morgan would solely eat at McDonalds', for three meals a day. He could only eat things off of the menu, including water. He had to try everything on the typical menu at least once. Morgan tried to limit himself to 5000 steps a day, that of a typical American. And he had to Super Size whenever asked.

Mr. Spurlock started off the picture of health. He wasn't overweight, and had no problems. He ate healthily, especially with the help of his vegan girlfriend. But by the end of his experiment, he gained 24.5 pounds, was moody, and damaged his liver. It took him more than a year to lose the weight.

If you haven't seen this movie before, the results are astounding. The doctors Morgan worked with were constantly trying to convince him to stop. His girlfriend looked disgusted in some shots. Daily activities, like walking up the stairs, became hard for him. It's amazing what this food does to you, isn't it?

But what goes in this food? Morgan did an experiment for that too. On the special features of the DVD, Morgan takes items from McDonald's (fries, a Big Mac, a Filet-O-Fish, a Chicken McGrill, and a Quarter Pounder with cheese) as well as a normal burger, and steak fries. He placed them in jars, and waited. Everything decomposed quickly, but not the Big Mac or the McDonald's fries. After five weeks, the Big Mac faded away, but the fries were still going strong. How long did they last? Not sure. Someone in Spurlock's office mistakenly threw them away.

Again, Morgan Spurlock's movie is called Super Size Me.

I hope this has inspired you to eat healthily, because that what this recipe is about! It's for salmon, and I adapted it from a Disney cookbook, called "Delicious Disney".

Field Greens Salad with Grilled Salmon

This recipe might be a little hard, so have your parents help you out.

Ingredients:
1 lb fresh green beans
1 lb of salmon, cut into 4 equal pieces (the fish worker at the grocery store will know what to do!)
1 tablespoon of olive oil
4 cups mixed spring greens
1 cup of your favorite vinagrette

1. Put your green beans in to a pot of boiling water for five minutes. Then, drain the pot (it will be heavy, so ask for help!) and place the beans in ice water.

2. Season the salmon with just a little bit of pepper and salt. Then brush them with olive oil (be sure to get both sides) and grill for about five minutes. If your salmon looks pink to you, don't worry. It is supposed to!

3. Mix your greens and green beans together to make your salad, and take your salmon and put it right over your salad.

Eat up, and enjoy!

Until next time,
