Ah, blackouts. It's a weird idea, power going out in Whyville. But it's happening, and will probably occur more often if we don't do something about it.

Some people might think that the blackouts will be no big deal. It's just a chat room going dark, isn't it? Others might worry. After all, these rooms look eerie without the happy coloring . . .

It feels like Halloween at Beach North, with both a blackout and red tide.

Whyville Square, which usually welcomes Newbies, looks gloomy and uninviting.

Even the Climate Center is experiencing these blackouts!

I wonder what the aliens think of the blackouts . . .

So, what can we do to prevent these blackouts? It's simple really:

* Wear face parts that generate electricity. You can buy these face parts in the Carbon Couture section of Akbar's. Once you have it on, go to the Climate Center and ring the bell. Then your contributions will be recorded!
* Take less rides in Scions, and use the bus menu less. This will help reduce your Whyville Carbon Footprint. You can find out your carbon footprint at the Climate Center.
* Clean up! Playing the cafeteria Recycling Game, as well as picking up trash after storms, will lower your Whyville Carbon Footprint.
* Trade! Rather than buying new face parts, look for them in the trading post! Giving away or trading items will lower your Whvyille Carbon Footprint too!

Off to buy some Carbon Couture!
