America's Neighbor

At exactly a quarter to nine on September 11th 2001, history was made.

American Airlines Fight 11, carrying 81 passengers and 11 crewmembers, slammed into the north tower of the world trade center. Fifteen minutes later, United Airlines Flight 175, carrying 56 passengers and nine crewmembers, slammed into the south tower. Thirty minutes later, American Airlines Flight 77, carrying 58 passengers and six crewmembers, crashed into the Pentagon. An hour later, United Airlines Flight 93, carrying 38 passengers and seven crewmembers, crashed near Shanksville, PA.

All of these planes were hijacked! Sick people took the lives of innocent people as well as their own.

You might call this some sort of kamakazi. Kamakazi started in World War II when Japanese pilots could not reach American boats, bomb them, and return home; they had to crash into the boats because there would not be enough gas to return home.

The hijackers -- these sickos -- killed so many people! Not only did they kill 266 people on the aircraft, but think of all the people inside "the twins" (the World Trade Center twin towers). Almost 150,000 people visit the twins each day! That's more than our Whyville population! And thousands of the people that work in both of those towers were killed or jumped to their death.

This is probably the biggest event in history since Kennedy got shot! People are going to ask you one day "Where were you when the World Trade Centers went down?" And some of us will say school, some of us in the car... etc.

President Bush was evacuated from the White House building. He was taken to Florida and some other places and put into bunker so he was safe. The whole White House building was evacuated! Downtown Toronto was even evacuated! President Bush says: "Make no mistake: The United States will hunt down and punish those responsible for these cowardly acts." AND SO THEY SHOULD!

Some of you might say, well, I'm Canadian, how does this concern me? Why should we care? Well, because the U.S. are our partners, friends, we always agree/do the same thing! 85% or 90% of our trading goes to them! We have always fought together and we always will!

Now, I urge you to go forth into your school or just your friends and bring up this topic! This may be World War Three we're talking about, people!

I hope this gave some of you needed information! I know it was kinda long, but it really shows how we are there for one another and it's a perfect example for no more of this "Canada's better then the U.S." or any of that!

Thanks for taking the time!
