Abercrombie and Fitch. Hollister. Aeropostale. American Eagle. They're all huge names in clothing nowadays. But are they "good for you?"

I'm not here to judge. Nor am I saying that everyone who wears any of these namebrand clothes is this way. I'm speaking from experience here people, so don't tar and feather me about it.

There is a very distinct pecking order at my school. On the very top are the girls that wear a new Abercrombie shirt and American Eagle jeans every day. You can call them whatever you wish. I call them "popular."

What makes these Pretty Populars so special? I know that wearing expensive clothes doesn't make you popular, but it really seems to help.

I can't help but wonder if these girls consider what kind of havoc they cause on other girls' self esteem. Surely they couldn't be so ignorant!? Yet, I'm sad to say, they can be.

I've dealt with this through my little sister. She was in fifth grade at the time. One day, she came home, bawling like a baby. Slowly, over a root beer float, she calmed down enough to tell me what was wrong.

"Why don't I have any clothes from Hollister? Sabrina Morris (I've changed the name) said that I was ugly cause I didn't have any." She said, fresh tears now clouding her eyes.

I was furious. How could someone tell my sister she wasn't good enough just because she didn't buy clothes from the "right place"? Where did she get the right to do that?

The only conclusion that jumped to mind was that this girl thought of herself as royalty. She wasn't. I sat down and made sure my little sister knew this. The next day she went to school happier than I'd seen her in a while.

So, that's my sob story. While it may seem trivial to you, I asure you that I will never forget this experience.

Before I go, I'll say this once more; I'm not saying that everyone that wears these clothes is the spawn of Satan. In my experience, however, most people who are the spawn of Satan do wear these clothes. I can't help but wonder what would've happened if my sister would've kept those ugly feelings bottled up. I don't want to imagine.

So this is someone that cares enough to question the masses,
