It's another year and it's time to celebrate, leaving all our bad memories behind us! Here is a chance you won't want to miss to get a fresh start with something new!

Hey fellow Whyville citizens, it's pinkfly07, trying something new in the year 2008. I am writing my first article!

Each year we count down, looking forward to what the New Year will be bringing us. In different places there may be different events happening around the world on this day with different types of celebrations!

The celebration of the New Year is an event that happens when a culture celebrates the end of one year and the beginning of the next year. Cultures that measure yearly calendars all have New Year celebrations. Most cultures follow the New Year that occurs on January 1 of each year.

As each year passes we look forward for the year ahead, usually by having a party we meet all our friends and celebrate the mark of a new beginning. Like each culture Whyville marks a new beginning for the New Year as well. All of us were invited to come and enjoy a few moments for what had passed and for what was ahead of us.

We were all invited to attend the party which was held on Friday, January 4, 2008 at 3 to 7 Whyville time at the Sportplatz! There was a skating rink, a Christmas Tree, a Beauty Contest or so called a Fashion Show, drinks (punch), balloons, gifts with projectiles in them and many more fun things. There was enough time for catching up with old friends and making some new ones. Some time for dancing, and some time to chase your friends around. But the most fun of all was to watch the different holiday outfits each of the contestants had on for the contest.

Since this was my first New Year party on Whyville, I was surprised with all the confetti and balloons all around, but surely enough it got a little annoying!

I found the place a bit crowded and couldn't figure out how to get in line for the contest! Fortunately after clicking random things, I ended up in the line. As I went back I decided to go explore some other places at the party!

Next I saw was:

Here we have a Christmas tree covered with lots of Projectiles -- probably from the boxes? No wonder everybody was rushing for the boxes! Sheesh, I didn't even get one! ;o

Later on, I went to check out the skating rink, so I could use some of my projectiles that I had just bought for the party and got around. I started to wonder where everybody had gone; and thought to myself if they had fallen done where the ice had started to break. Well, I guess you probably had known what was underneath it, but I didn't so I decided to go check it out!

Okay, so I was still all alone under the icy pond, and seriously I wasn't able to breathe, but you guessed it my friends came to my rescue!

I was brought back up as my chat stopped and well, before you know it the end of the party was near! But do you really think the party really ended?

Of course not, the party continued for around 2 hours after the end of the party!

Here are a couple more pictures:

As the party, slowly started to end I caught up, with some Whyvillans who were at the party, and decided to interview them about how they felt about the party. Here are some responses I received from: Amanda, slushiexo, Red00Head, girlmusic and mallymomo.

pinkfly07: Did you enjoy the party?
Amanda: Yeah, I guess so.
Slushiexo: I enjoyed it very much!
Red00Head: Sort of . . . not really . . .
Girlmusic: I did enjoy it a lot, I got to talk to my friends and get free projectiles. I liked the underwater part, but the chat was hard to read.
Mallymomo: Yep! I liked it a lot it, but it was kinda weird cause it said "You just found a ___ say___ to throw it!" . . . And I was like okay. But that's not a put down I'm just telling improvements! I love Whyville with all my heart!

pinkfly07: What did you like about the party?
Amanda: I liked the Fashion Show!
Slushiexo: I liked the ice pond's under water thing and the contest!
Red00Head: The Beauty Pageant was nice . . .
Girlmusic: I think the best thing was how it was decorated and that you could get free projectiles in boxes.
Mallymomo: The outfit dressing hands down and I liked how you would walk into Sportplatz at first part and just talk with your friends :).

pinkfly07: What would you rate the party out of 10?
Amanda: I would give it a 7 out of 10.
Slushiexo: It would definitely give it a 10!
Red00Head: Probably 6.5.
Girlmusic: 8 out of 10 stars.
Mallymomo: Eight.

pinkfly07: What would make the party better?
Amanda: Lose the confetti, it gave me a headache, and the music was strange.
Slushiexo: I think more people would make it better, maybe more punch and some more boxes!
Red00Head: There needs to be more than one Beauty Pageant room . . . that way flooding happens less.
Girlmusic: The chat for the under water could be better as it was hard to read.
Mallymomo: I would say adding some rare prizes that Whyville has never gave away and give them out every half and hour and not just drop it any where randomly, pick someone so if your friends next to you and they want it and you do too so it won't turn into a fight ;). Whyville could also maybe have a part where it's a theater (kind of like Soma Theater) and Whyville could throughout the year take screen shots of events for memory and play the song "Photograph" LoL. And Whyvillans could also help include pictures in that and like 1-4 weeks before the party have people e-mail Whyville the memorable pictures.

pinkfly07: What do you look forward in 2008?
Amanda: Hopefully (fingers crossed) a Y-mail helper chat room.
Slushiexo: Don't know . . . LoL.
Red00Head: Everything.
Girlmusic: I'm looking forward to my birthday, I'll be 15 and then only 1 more until I get to drive. Until then, I look forward to my brother getting his license so that he can drive me around:].
Mallymomo: All the new friends, helping people, learning new things, and pursuing more interests.

pinkfly07: What would New Year's resolution for Whyville be?
Amanda: Hmmm, a Whyville resolution, I never thought of that, well I really want to recover my hacked account, 'Catherine', and remember the password to 'Andrea'.
Slushiexo: I don't know . . . LoL.
Red00Head: To have awesome parties! And not to make more friends but hanging out more with the ones I already have . . .
Girlmusic: I guess my New Year's resolution for Whyville would be to check my y-mail more often and write more articles for the Times.
Mallymomo: Just keep going on what I'm doing and I'm in the middle of writing a book. I wanna start figure skating lessons. And just enjoying life one second at a time. Don't blink :) LoL.

pinkfly07: One last question . . . what do you look forward for in the next New Year party?
Amanda: Hopefully more people will come.
Slushiexo: All of the stuff we just had and probably more!
Red00Head: Less Flooding . . . LoL . . . and maybe for the party to actually be on New Year's . . . LoL.
Girlmusic: I look forward to seeing more of my friends theere and some new songs at the 2009 New Year's party.
Mallymomo: Improvements.

Well we all had different opinions on the party, but it seemed that the Beauty Contest was enjoyed the most and lasted the longest! If you were at the party I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I look forward to our next Whyville party, and hope to see you there! Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

*Special note from Mallymomo*: Just wanted to say I wish everyone on Whyville the best and follow your dreams and never forget I xxx YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

This is pinkfly07, signing off and counting down the days until the next New Year! ;)
