Normal: conforming to the standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal; regular; natural.

What is normal? You hear it everywhere. "I wish my family was like a normal family." What is a normal family? Is it a mom, a dad, a brother, and a sister? I don't know many families like that, so it must not be normal. This type of family is the kind of family you see on TV or in movies, it's not how families are in real life so it isn't "usual" or "standard" it's just the idea of the "perfect family". Nobody has the perfect family so everyone must be the same by having an abnormal family. But wouldn't that make them normal? Is there really a standard or common type for families? What about people?

People all the time say they're not normal. It seems with teens these days being normal "isn't cool". They say they don't care what people think, but obviously they do or they wouldn't be saying that. They want people to think they're weird and not normal, so they act like they don't care. If most teens are trying not to be normal, then that would make it usual among teens. So wouldn't that make it normal? By trying not to be normal they are actually making themselves normal because everyone else is trying not to be normal.

Yesterday I was reading and found the quote "The only normal people are the people you don't know very well."

If you look at someone and think oh they go to school, they hang out with their friends, they do all the things most teens do you might think that person is normal. If you actually get to know them then you would probably find out they have many different qualities and are completely different from anyone else. Everyone is different so how can anyone be normal?

It's weird how everyone can be normal but not normal all at the same time. Nobody is normal. But that statement would just make everybody normal. If the standard or common type is not being normal then everyone is normal. It's a paradox of normality.

So really nobody and everybody is normal and abnormal. So from now on I will not use the word normal. Let's not be like normal people let's be ourselves? but wait wouldn't that make us normal?
