Happy Halloween 2001

Happy Halloween, Whyville!

Are you ready for the Halloween Party, starting on Tuesday the 30th at 6pm? You'd better start dressing up in your costumes now, and pick the best one for the big costume contest! Are you ready to vote for the scariest, creepiest, coolest, most unique costume? City Hall has just announced that the winner of the costume contest will receive a free 30-day Why-Pass!!! So get ready!

This year's party will have several additions -- including new music in the graveyard -- as well as some popular activities from last year, like the rotten projectile hunt! Are you ready to dig up some maggots and spiders?

And don't forget -- you'll need to have the special password, and say it just outside of Dr. Leila's house! You can only get it by asking your friends, because we haven't written it down anywhere... it's sort of an experiment in word-of-mouth communication, hehe, a mad science experiment!!

City Hall encourages everyone to get a Why-Pass for the Party: "We're not requiring Why-Passes," she says, "but we anticipate that Whyville will be very crowded for this event, so if you don't have a Pass, you may have a hard time getting in. For those of you who miss out on Halloween, we're hoping to have another party in the next month or two -- what should we celebrate? Do you know of a cool holiday in late November or early December that people of all countries celebrate? Email me your suggestions!"

Finally, everyone at City Hall would like to thank all the Whyvillians who have sent in constructive ideas about the new Why-Pass system, as well as all of you who have already bought or bid on your very own Why-Pass! The system has already shown tremendous success, and we're very grateful to all of you for showing your support of Whyville.

On a side note, if you read Bigfoot's articles, you'll recall how he asked you not to write to us begging us not to have Why-Passes. Now, I'm not going to name names, because that would be embarrassing, but I have it on good authority that some citizens have written to City Hall begging that we not only get rid of Why-Passes, but that we actually just up and MAKE WHYVILLE BIGGER!

I'm sorry, but you have clearly not been reading the Times, or the Why-Pass FAQ. PLEASE, if you still don't understand the need for Why-Passes, please go back and read Bigfoot's articles: What Comes Next?, What Is Whyville Worth?, and Buy, Bid, or Get Lucky!.

Thanks, and have yourself a candy-filled Halloween!
