Lately, our world has been really interested in, you guessed it, music! It's all around us! There are also many different types of music, ranging from alternative rock to rap. Many of us turn on that oh-so-familiar radio each day to listen to the latest tunes. Many of us also use music as a sanctuary to get away from everything and relax.

There are many popular artists out there. Most of us probably know who Rihanna is and some of us have probably lip-synced to Chris Brown or played the air guitar along with Daughtry, Fall Out Boy, or Boys Like Girls at least once. Of course, there are millions of artists out there besides these people. The question is, though, who are they? That's why I'm starting this column to inform you about the millions of other great performers who deserve some recognition.

First on the list is . . . Secondhand Serenade! Many of us have probably already heard of him, since one of his videos premiered on the popular MTV show, TRL, but I'd like to give him a little more recognition since there are still some people who have no clue who he is.

Secondhand Serenade, or John Vesely, is an acoustic rock artist whose debut album just came out in 2007. His album, Awake, included the popular hit song "Vulnerable". With his alternative like voice, excellent acoustic guitar skills, amazing piano skills, and heart-felt lyrics, he's bound to be heard. His second album, A Twist in My Story, is to come out somewhere in February, so look for it in stores soon! A Twist in My Story is said to feature songs from the first album, like "Maybe" and "Your Call", but played with a full band. I encourage alternative rock fans that aren't afraid to show their soft side to listen to John Vesely's songs.

The next band is . . . Toy-Box! Toy-Box was a Danish band formed in the 1990s by Anila Mirza and Amir El-Falaki. Even though the band has broken up, their funny, catchy songs deserve to be listened to over and over. Toy-Box's first album, Fantastic, was released in September 1999. It featured the hit songs "Super-Duper-Man", "Tarzan & Jane", "Teddy Bear", and my personal favorite "Best Friend". In 2001, the band released their second album, Toyride, which included songs like "Www.girl", and "Wizard of Oz". With their bubbly, funky, bubblegum pop music and laugh out loud lyrics, you just can't help but sing and dance along! People who enjoy the band Aqua (the band who sings "Barbie Girl") and like listening to humorous songs are bound to love Toy-Box as well.

Thank you for reading about these amazing artists and I hope that you will listen to their songs in the future! Next week, I will be back to inform you about more little-known artists.
