PANDEMIC

"A lot of girls ask for advice on how to get into acting, and I'm kind of the worst person to ask, because it just kind of fell in my lap . . . I was just in the right place at the right time."

This blue-eyed, photogenic beauty was born on September 16th, 1981 in Houston, Texas. Growing up, the young starlet was extremely shy. To help her overcome her shyness her parents pushed her to audition for plays in the community theater when she was 8 years old. From then on she fell in love with acting. In 2000 she heard about an audition being held for a new TV show show. The character was much like herself, so she decided to audition . . .

A Surprising Start

"It was very unexpected. I was nervous and I didn't know what I was doing. It just happened to work out."

In the spring of 2000, Kimberly Alexis Bledel auditioned for the role of "Lorelai 'Rory' Leigh Gilmore" in the show "Gilmore Girls". The producers and casting directors immediately fell in love with Alexis' acting because she made the character very relatable. Of course, Alexis was very similar to the character. Soon Alexis' face became known internationally and this role is still her most famous. Alexis is also known for her piercing, bright blue eyes and past modeling career.

A Magnificent Model

"When I was modeling as a teenager . . . I just ignored it when people said to lose two inches off my hips."

Alexis began modeling at the age of 14 when she was spotted by a modeling agent at her local mall. Throughout her modeling career Alexis has traveled to Tokyo, Milan, New York and Los Angeles. She also graduated from the Page Parks Center of modeling and acting. However Alexis disliked the modeling industry because she was constantly being told what to do, and was always reminded of how she needed to improve. During a photo shoot in the winter, a photographer threw water in her face and Alexis permanently ended her modeling career.

Mixed & Multicultural

Alexis' father Martin is Argentinean however her mother Nanette is Mexican. Many Americans are always surprised to hear that Alexis is a Latina. Alexis' first language is Spanish but she learned English at school.

Awards & Accomplishments

Alexis' acting has been rewarded with 4 awards. She won the Family Television Award, Teen Choice Award (Choice Actress: Comedy, won twice) and a Young Artist Award. However Alexis has also been nominated for 11 other awards.

The 'Write' Future

"I did one year at NYU, and I'd love to go back there someday."
"I write a lot too, so I would like to write or direct in the future if I can."

Alexis has a long career ahead of her but I doubt she will decide to continue acting. After graduating from high school, Alexis attended New York University's Tisch School of Arts as a film major. After completing one year she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. However Alexis would still like to go back to NYU and study writing for the entertainment industry.
