It's a silly title, I know, but isn't that what we're all saying? Why can't everyone be just like me? We all know we're not perfect, or at least I hope we do, but we never seem to be able to ignore the flaws that our peers make clear to us. Why is that?

A little more specifically, the Times BBS is what comes to mind when I get these feelings. It's full of people, kids that are younger, teens who are older, and people who I honestly can't distinguish. I'm thinking, "What is going through these peoples' heads?" After all, I'd never say something like that, so ignorant, so volatile, and so carefree. Surely these people don't realize what they're saying. I mean, come on, this person here must be illiterate. This girl must be under the age of 7 to produce a post like that. Obviously this guy doesn't even care about what slips out of his mouth.

I must be the most well adjusted person in the world, right? After all, I can point out what everyone else is doing wrong while generating the most perfect attitude myself! Win win, huh? Well, no. It is not a win win. You see, we all feel like this sometimes, but most of the time, we shouldn't. It's not that it's unnatural, we have to defend ourselves when we KNOW we're right. But what about those times when we're not right? When we're not sure, or we're simply plain wrong? That never happens to me . . . does it?

We all know that we're wrong sometimes, but the problem is, we just don't know when. Often times we get so deep into an argument that we just don't want to admit that we're wrong. We do this because we don't want to seem dumb or we don't want to accept defeat. Sometimes we begin to believe ourselves, even when we know we're wrong. "I couldn't possibly be wrong, could I? The only reason I butted into that argument in the first place was because I knew I was right." But I wasn't right, I was wrong.

This is a common problem I see, and something I think we all should work on. I do it a lot myself, so . . . why? Why can't we just accept that we're wrong once in a while and work towards a common goal? We're all guilty of something, whether we realize it or not. The problem with some may be that they're just TOO right, and they end up with a high and mighty attitude as a result. I'm not a scientist, I haven't studied psychology, I haven't even backed my thoughts up with some blog out in cyber space. I'm just spilling my thoughts. The truth is, I'm just me, pointing out a problem that I am guilty of myself. It may seem odd that I would give advice about a problem that I can't overcome myself, but the way I see it, I'm not giving advice. I'm just trying to make a realization for myself, and maybe you'll all make some too. We're all wrong sometimes.

So next time when you're in the BBS, or anywhere for that matter, just remember that you're not always right. I'm not saying you're always wrong either . . . let's just try and work towards a mutual standing point. Try not to sit on your high horse, or go begging for pity. Just remember, you don't have to be arguing to get your point across. A child's opinion, though it may not seem as important, can be just as important as yours. It may be hard to get passed some factors that may degrade certain people in your mind, but that's okay. Just try and put yourself in their shoes. After all, they're probably asking the same question, "Why can't everyone be like me?"

Thanks a lot,
