My teacher wants a list
Of all the places I'll see
All the people I'll know
And all the thing's I'll be

I think that's asking too much
I'm only in the first grade
My life's ambition is candy
I've got no plans made

What? I'm in third grade?
That just can't be true
All I want to do is color
And learn to open jar lids too

Tenth grade? No way!
Maybe I'll visit Spain
I don't ask much of the world
But I want to fly a plane

You want me to believe you?
You expect me to think
That I'm old enough to drive,
That I can gamble and drink?

No, not possible!
I can't have three kids
I only got married
I still can't open jar lids

I'm old.
Blinking hurts.
Clapping hurts.
Being hurts.

But I'm only in third grade
No, maybe I can drive
I still can't open jar lids
Am I even alive?

Where is time?
Why didn't somebody say
To make use of my life
Of each and every day?

What?
No.
Third grade?
That was a lifetime ago.
