"What about him?" Emily whispered, her finger pointed to the guy sitting two tables away in the lunch room. Emily, my best friend, said I needed a boyfriend. All lunch hour she kept pointing out hot guys.

Emily was pretty. Not your average preppy make-up wearing pretty, she was naturally beautiful. She had light brown hair almost caramel colored. She was tall and skinny but not nasty skinny.

"Emily I don't want a boyfriend." My voice begging her to drop the subject.

Emily giggled, "You have to admit he's hot."

"Okay, well, actually he is. I still don't want a boyfriend though," I said.

"Well then at least come to Jonathon's birthday party with me." She insisted.

"I'll think about it Em."

At dinner I was pealing the crispy skin off my chicken breast. Chicken was one of my favorite meals.

"Honey me and your father want to talk to you about something," my mom said.

"Sure. What is it?" I asked wiping my fingers on my napkin.

"We thought you should just be more social. We know you have your best friend Emily, but we think you need to go more places." My mother explained. My dad sat there, his head moving up and down. I bet he didn't want to talk to me about this.

"You mean like a boyfriend?"

"No honey, we aren't telling you that. You can, but we want you to go to some parties or sleep overs. You spend so much time out in the yard."

"Oh yeah there's this guy's party I can go to," I said hoping this would satisfy them. My mom's eyes lit up, "Oh that would be great!"

At school the next morning I told Emily I was going to the party. It was on Friday night so my mom took us both shopping for new outfits.

Emily and I were in my room getting ready for the party. "Girls it's time to go!" My mom's voice rang up the stairs.

"Okay! We're coming!" I said.

A few minutes later we were both standing in the middle of Jonathon's living room. The music was perfect for free dancing. We decided to get something to drink. On the counter was chips, salsa, popcorn, punch, and soda. I grabbed a coke and then I saw a goblin standing by the refrigerator. I didn't react because I didn't want Emily to notice. I wondered if Raffa had followed me, but it didn't look like him. I just stopped thinking about it and decided to have fun.

"Come dance Sarah!" Em said over the loud dance music. She dragged my hand and danced like crazy. The song changed to one of my favorite songs. I finally had fun and danced. I saw Jonathon across the room getting a drink. I pulled Em off the dance floor. We walked over to Jonathon.

"Happy birthday," I said.

"Oh hey thanks. You're Sarah right?"

"Yeah and this is my friend Emily," I said as I introduced her.

"Thanks for com-." His sentenced stopped short. "I uh got to go excuse me," he said and walked quickly towards the door.

After he left Emily was talking about how cute Jonathon was. I was stuck wondering why he had to go.

I checked my cell for the time. "Oh crap Em it's already ten."

"Already? We just got here," she said shocked.

I checked my phone again. "My cell says we've been here for two hours."

We both had a lot of fun tonight, but the party was ending in a half hour. I caught sight of Jonathon he was staring intently at the window. I turned my head to see what he was looking at. I saw the goblin standing by the window. That has to be a coincidence. I looked back to where Jonathon was standing, but he wasn't there anymore.

Em tugged at my arm, "Your mom is here. Let's go." We got in my mom car and drove to my house. Emily was sleeping over at my house tonight.

Earlier I had told Julie and Raffa to keep all the creatures away from me tonight. I couldn't risk talking to them when Emily was over.

We talked most of the night, and watched our favorite movies. I soon forgot about seeing creatures at the party, and was a true teenage girl with no worries in the world.
