On June 5th, 2008 Whyvillians crowded the SportPlatz to await the arrival of 3:00 Whyville Time. Why? Because the Whyville Prom was scheduled, and everyone needed to attend!

As the clock struck 3:00 (Whyville Time), two new rooms appeared, the Stage and the Theater. The Stage was a huge chat room filled with many Whyvillians asking for votes for the Prom King and Queen. It also included the results later on. The Theater was a small chat room with a "big screen" showing videos submitted by Whyvillians. The Prom King and Queen will be explained more throughout the article and in my letter below.

And even though two new rooms appeared, we still had our old buddies, Simon Says and the main chat room for the SportPlatz.

As the party continued, I looked for four generous Whyvillians to interview. Happily, I was able to get those four Whyvillians. So, please enjoy their opinions.

Cohenlm: Did you enjoy the Whyville Prom? Why or why not?

Anatomy46: Yes, I loved the Whyville Prom. I liked it because they played really good music.
Gasohp: I enjoyed some parts of prom, but I also had some dislikes. It was crowded and there were like 10 rooms. I wasn't able to get into the same room, but it was better than not being to able to be at prom at all. Overall I thought it was great.
Sarah1100: I enjoyed the prom because because it was fun to get to dance and have fun with all my friends.
LilMadame: I did enjoy the Whyville Prom. It was fun and I saw some of my friends there. I think it would have been better if there was music though.

Cohenlm: Was this your first prom?

Anatomy46: Yes, this is my first prom.
Gasohp: Yes, this was and I thought it was very fun.
Sarah1100: This is my first ever prom. I had never been to one in real life or on Whyville.
LilMadame: Yup.

Cohenlm: What was your favorite activity? And why?

Anatomy46: I liked it when people were voting.
Gasohp: I loved voting because people were really nice to each other. I was anxious to see the winners.
Sarah1100: My favorite activity was Simon Says because I like to play the game with my friend, and it's fun.
LilMadame: My favorite activity was voting. I didn't run for anything, but it was fun voting for people and watching who had the most votes.

Cohenlm: Any other comments?

Anatomy46: Yeah, from what I know this is the best prom ever. Even though this is my first prom. For me, first is always best.
Gasohp: I thought the designers did a good job on the decorations. It was hard to get into the stage, but I finally did and said, "Hi," to City Hall.
Sarah1100: I really liked the prom and hope there will be one next year!!
LilMadame: It was very hard to get into the stage because of the many people there. I think they should have made another room.

The Whyville Prom was a great success and was very fun. It had many activities and many Whyvillians to enjoy those activities. As I went around quickly chatting, many Whyvillians were saying things like, "Yay!! This is fun!" or "I can't wait until next year!" And I agree with them. I agree because it was a great way to interact with new people and friends in an educational way.

It also expressed creativity by each Whyvillian who attended with their original looks and submitted videos. Also, to "top things off" the voting taught and showed manners by the way many Whyvillians complimented looks of others. And speaking of the voting, the results were available later on during the party . . . and I'd like to congratulate Nerdishh and IamTodd for becoming this year's Prom King and Queen. Congratulations!!

So, you can see the prom was a fun and educational event for all Whyvillians to attend!! Hopefully next year and for many other years to come the Prom can be apart of Whyville!

Author's Note: The Prom King and Queen were chosen by a voting session. The session lasted for about an hour. To be awarded/award a vote, a Whyvillian must have said, "Vote ___." The Whyvillian with the most votes who was a girl, became the Queen, and the Whyvillian who was a boy with the most votes, became the King. Runner-ups were also recognized in the results. If you'd like to learn more about the origin about proms and how to dress successful for future proms, please read Holiday50's articlem "Flawed Fashion: Prom Perfection."
