On Monday, I got Guitar Hero on Tour for the DS. It's extremely fun and addicting. I figured I'd write a review for it before someone beat me to it.

First off, you may be wondering how you could play Guitar Hero on the DS. Well, it's quite simple. When you buy the game, it comes with the "guitar grip", which is an attachment that goes into the Game Boy Advanced slot. With your pick stylus in one hand, and your other hand holding on to the guitar grip, you're ready to rock!

Here are a some screen shots:

The game works like the other Guitar Hero games. You strum on the touch screen for every note that comes up. You press the buttons according to what shows up on the top screen (which would be a side screen because you hold the DS sideways). To activate your star power, yell, "Rock out" into the microphone. Or if you don't want to feel like an idiot, or can't yell, just press any button in the set that will be above the touch screen (if you're right handed). I use the Y button because it's closest.

This game is amazing. I just love it. Here's what I like:

1. The song list. I've heard of almost all the songs. There are plenty of choices. Some of my personal favorites to play are "Spiderwebs" by No Doubt, "All Star" by Smash Mouth, "Helicopter" by Bloc Party, "Stray Cat Strut" by the Stray Cats, and "Anna Molly" by Incubus. There are 25 songs, plus a bonus song, to rock out to.

2. Guitar duels. You can choose from all of the songs to duke it out with the computer. You can use items to cheat (or drastically enhance as my brother and I call it) to make your performance better, or the computer's performance worse! Fun!

3. Unlockables. There are a couple different kinds of things you can unlock: guitars, alternate colors for guitars, outfits for your character, and a bonus song. I personally love the guitars. I love seeing the classic models, such as the Les Paul and the SG. After you unlock them, you buy them in the store by using the money you earn in the campaign mode.

4. Modes. I already mentioned the awesomeness of the guitar duels, but there are other modes you can play. You can do the campaign, practice, multiplayer, and quickplay. For multiplayer, you can battle with a friend, or play co-op. You can choose to do the lead, or alternate part in one mode of co-op, or work together in a more guitar duel form. You can also battle in a mode with no items for cheating/drastically enhancing.

Here's what I don?t like about this game:

1. You can't play it for very long without risking getting a cramp. You should take a break between every three or four songs (or take a break if your hand, arm, or shoulder hurts). I just want to play!

So that about sums it up. I'd give 4.5 stars out of 5, because I love the song list, modes, and unlockables, but I don't like taking breaks. I'd highly recommend it if you own a DS and are willing to cough up 50 bucks. My fingers are itching to feel the familiar four buttons right now . . .

Off to stop resisting my urge to play,
