Spanish For the Clueless: Learning the Definite Article

One of the most important elements of the language is the word is the "definite article." What does that mean? In simple words, it's just the word "the!"
In Spanish, there are two genders for words: masculine and feminine. "Chico" is Spanish for "boy," and it's masculine. The definite article for "chico" is "el."
El chico = The boy.
Now, let's take the word "chica," meaning girl. This word is feminine, so we use the definite article "la."
La chica = The girl
What would happen if there wasn't just one boy, but three? What if it wasn't "chico," but "chicos?" Why, we'd use the masculine plural for the definite article - "Los."
Los chicos = The boys.
And if it was more than one girl? Just use the feminine plural for the definite article - "Las."
Las chicas = The girls.
