Last week, we learned how "un" and "una" are used to say "a." A quick review:

Un chico (pronounced: cheek-oh) = a boy
Una chica (pronounced: cheek-ah) = a girl

"Un" and "una" can also mean "one." There's a third way to say "one," though! There's even a game named after it!

No, it's not monopoly.
It's not life either.
It isn't guitar hero.
Tag? Are you kidding me?

It's Uno! Once you get the differences among the three ways to say "one," it makes perfect sense. Just make sure to pay attention!

Un: Used only when referring to masculine nouns.
Por Ejemplo (Pronounced: poor eh-hemp-loh. Means: For example): Un disco compacto (Prounounced: Dee-scoh comb-pack-toh. Means: CD)

Una: Used only when referring to feminine nouns
Por Ejemplo: Una pluma (Pronounced: plooh-mah. Means: Pen)

Uno: Used only when referring to numbers in general (counting)
Por Ejemplo: Uno, dos, tres . . .

Alright, most of us know enough of Spanish to count at least up to ten. Here's a quick review of the numbers:

One = Uno
Two = Dos
Three = Tres
Four = Cuatro
Five = Cinco
Six = Seis
Seven = Siete
Eight = Ocho
Nine = Nueve
Ten = Diez

Time for a countdown to the end of this article! I need everyone to join in on this one!

*Speaks in loud and dramatic announcer's voice*

Diez . . .
Nueve . . .
Ocho . . .
Siete . . .
Seis . . .
Cinco . . .
Cuatro . . .
Tres . . .
Dos . . .
Uno . . .

Gracias y buenas noches!
