The Great Iraq Debate

Glitsygrl debates if the US should stay in Iraq.

Author's Note: The debate that follows basically follows the U.S. pulling out or staying. For others in separate countries, you can learn a bit about what your country is doing with the war, if it has any ties.

As Smith Baker looked down upon the bleached white bones sticking out of the sand, he did not shudder. It was strange to him, almost inhuman, not to writhe at the sight of a human life being taken, one of his own. Seeing the remains of his companions stuck with him in this foreign land, though he was alive for now, and they didn't fare so well. He did not shudder. Smith Baker had seen too many dead, and was numb now. Everyone seemed to be numb now. It was only the distant and rare letters from home that made the men's tears flow freely. He looked down at the bones again. And his family wondered why he didn't write. Did they know? Did they know?

Can You Control It?

My day started "comme-ci comme-ca" (French for so-so). I woke up with a slight cold coming on. I didn't let it bother me though, I simply took some medicine and got on the bus to go to school. On the bus, a person several seats in front of me had their window open, and I was freezing. I asked them to put it up, and was greeted by a barrage of profanity, all over a silly window.

I sat back down, and a locust came through that window and smacked me in the face. Luckily, it did not splat, it stayed whole. The rest of the ride was normal. Getting off the bus, someone not willing to wait 30 seconds for their turn to get off the bus, shoved me backwards to jump in front of me. In the school building, a student went against the school dress code and wore steel toed boots. Not so horrible, eh? Until said student purposely tripped me, and I, wearing flip flops, started to fall.
