Cities of America: Seattle

Xion2 takes his tour a little further north.

Hello! Today I will be continuing my series on different cities in America. This week, I chose Seattle, WA, the coffee capital of the world. Seattle is a beautiful, large city, the largest in the Pacific Northwest. (At least, the American Pacific Northwest.)

Where is Seattle?

Seattle is located about 100 miles south of the Canadian border, about 90 miles east of the Pacific Ocean, about 20 miles north of Olympia, which is the capital of Washington State, and about 300 miles north of Portland, Oregon. I was quite surprised at how close it was to the state of Idaho, being only about 200 miles west from it. Seattle is just about surrounded by water. It has Pudget Sound (which is a huge body of water that eventually connects to the Pacific Ocean) to the west of the city, and Lake Washington (wonder why they called it that . . .) just to the east, and coming down to the south, and up to the north.

Cooking With Jadenman

Jadenman teaches you to cook rice.

With billions of grains of rice eaten each day, you'd figure rice would be a pretty popular food. And you'd be right. You don't have to be Asian to cook rice either, don't feel bad if you're not. Cooking rice is pretty simple. In fact, I learned how to cook rice just a few weeks ago from my sister and have been enjoying it ever since.

That being said, it's a shame many people are intimated by cooking "perfect rice", but don't be. It's fun, easy, and delicious. Rice is the first step in many more complicated dishes I'll be covering in later articles. But hey, you have to start somewhere right?

Preparing rice doesn't take a fancy rice cooker or super talent, although the process is significantly easier if you have either of the above. There are however a few necessary things you'll need to have beforehand.
