Antelope Island

by Rory24

This week a few friends and I went to Antelope Island to camp. You can drive there on a long causeway over the Great Salt Lake. When the Salt Lake water level is high the causeway can become covered. In 1983 the Salt Lake rose so high the park was closed to the public for 10 years. It's name comes from the native antelope but today it's big attraction is the bison. You can hike, swim, boat, camp, bike, etc, although, motorized off-road vehicles are not allowed so the wildlife isn't disturbed. The original ranch is still there and once a year there is a bison round up and the public can help if they feel western enough. After they are round up some are sold to bring the number down to what the island can support. It's a beautiful and historical part of Utah.

Hey all, today I'm back with another art submission. This week, I decided to paint a portrait of John Lennon, based on the original piece by Richard Avedon. Richard Avedon was known for his photographs of depicting famous subjects, like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and the Beatles.
